David Lemke, CMT, sEMG Tech., has practiced and researched massage for over 20 years. He is a former massage school instructor and clinic owner. After writing this book, he realized that even he hadn't understood his true massage career focus so he applied the very principles he developed to re-create and obtain his dream career. Now David is the Director of the Active Manual Therapy Group at the BioPerformance Institute of North Idaho Physical Therapy. He is also the creator of Sequenced Motor Point Manipulation, a technique that he teaches in workshops around North America. Most recently, David authored another NCBTMB-approved continuing education course entitled Understanding Muscle Dysfunction.

Douglas Helmer, B.A. Communications Studies, is a professional writer and marketing communications consultant to self-employed individuals and both private and public companies. His interest in massage came about after suffering years of debilitating back pain due to a sports injury. Not wanting to use drugs to numb the pain, he tried massage and found that it not only removed the pain, but with regular use, prevented it. His interest in massage career focus came about after he assisted Mr. Lemke write a brochure explaining the wellness benefits of massage.
